# How it works

A baselaunch coin has 1,000,000,000 tokens, all of them on a bonding curve from the launch, with no presale and no team allocation. Everyone trades against the curve, which raises the price as tokens are bought. When 714,285,714 are bought, the coin graduates to a Uniswap pool whose liquidity is locked.

- Launch fee: 0.0005 ETH plus gas
- Supply: 1,000,000,000 tokens
- Trading fee: 1%
- Creator fee: 0 to 10%

## Launch

Pick a name, a ticker and an image, then the pair your coin trades against: ETH, USDC, cbBTC or a tokenized stock. The whole supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens goes to the bonding curve. There is no presale and no team allocation. You can make the first buy in the same transaction as the launch.

## Bonding curve

Everyone buys and sells at the curve price, which rises as tokens are bought. In the first seconds after a launch, buys pay a launch tax that falls to zero within 3 seconds.

## Graduation

When the curve reaches its target, the coin moves to a Uniswap pool automatically. The pool liquidity is locked forever, and trading continues there.

## Creator fees

The creator sets a fee of up to 10% on each trade and picks where the creator side goes: to a wallet, to holders, paid by balance and holding time, or to a wallet with buyback and lock. 50% of the creator part of the 1% base fee, and of the launch tax on the curve, buys the coin back and locks it. The coins unlock over 5 years, the creator receiving 70% of each release and the protocol 30%. On a coin created on baselaunch.app, which has no launch interface, the creator fee is still paid in full to the fee wallet. The creator cannot change the holders choice later. The protocol owner can redirect a coin's fee recipient after a 3-day notice; see [Security](https://baselaunch.app/security).

Each step has its own guide with worked numbers: see [Docs](https://baselaunch.app/docs).

## Questions

### What does it cost to launch a coin?

0.0005 ETH plus Base network gas, paid once when the coin is created. Every trade then pays a 1% fee plus the coin's creator fee. [See every fee](https://baselaunch.app/fees)

### Does buyback and lock spend the creator fee?

No. [Creator fees](https://baselaunch.app/creators)

Every cost is on [fees](https://baselaunch.app/fees), and what the owner can and cannot do is on [security](https://baselaunch.app/security).

Meme coins are highly speculative and most lose their value. Nothing here is financial advice.
