Create a meme coin on Base
Creating a meme coin on Base costs 0.0005 ETH (about $1.12 as of 2026-10-31) plus Base network gas, with no liquidity to add. Pick a name, ticker and image, choose a pair, and click Create coin: the whole supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens starts on a bonding curve and graduates to a Uniswap pool.
Numbers checked on chain on 20 October 2026.
Coin and token mean the same thing here: an ERC-20 on Base. Launch, create and make all mean the same thing on this page: putting a new coin on a bonding curve on Base.
How do I create, launch or make a meme coin on Base?
Open the launch form and follow four steps. No code and no separate contract deployment are needed.
- IdentityAdd a Coin image, a Name and a Ticker. A description and links to X, Telegram and a website are optional. Click Continue.
- EconomicsUnder Paired with, choose ETH, USDC, cbBTC or a tokenized stock. Set a Creator fee of 0 to 10%, choose where Fees are paid to (Your wallet, Wallet with buyback and lock, or Holders), and add an Opening buy if you want to buy first. Unless you chose Holders, a Fee wallet field sets the receiving wallet and defaults to yours.
- Connect walletClick Connect wallet and choose a wallet on Base. If it is on another network, click Switch to Base.
- Create coinClick Create coin and confirm in your wallet. If you add an Opening buy in an ERC-20 pair such as USDC, your wallet first shows Approve in wallet so the router can spend it. When the transaction confirms, your coin page opens.
How much does it cost to create a meme coin on Base? Is it free?
It is not free, but it is small: 0.0005 ETH (about $1.12 as of 2026-10-31) plus Base network gas, paid once. Gas goes to the Base network and not to baselaunch. Nothing else is charged at creation. The ETH/USD price comes from the baselaunch indexer, as of 2026-10-31; dollar figures are shown only while it is available.
| Item | Cost | Paid to |
|---|---|---|
| Launch fee | 0.0005 ETH (about $1.12 as of 2026-10-31) | baselaunch, once |
| Gas | Varies with Base | The Base network |
| Opening buy | Optional, your choice | The curve, in exchange for coins |
| Liquidity | None to add | Not applicable |
Every trade of the coin then pays a 1% fee, which the traders pay, not the creator. The full split is on fees.
Do I need to add liquidity?
No. The whole supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens goes to the bonding curve when the coin is created, and the curve is the market from the first trade. When the curve fills, the coin graduates to a Uniswap pool seeded by the curve, with liquidity locked.
What can I set when I launch a coin?
- The Name, Ticker and Coin image, plus an optional description and links.
- The pair the coin trades against: ETH, USDC, cbBTC or a tokenized stock.
- A Creator fee of 0 to 10% of each trade, on top of the base fee.
- Where the creator side (the creator fee and the creator part of the base fee) is paid: your wallet, your wallet with buyback and lock, or holders. Buyback and lock never spends the creator fee: 50% of the creator part of the 1% base fee, and of the launch tax on the curve, buys the coin back and locks it. The coins unlock over 5 years, the creator receiving 70% of each release and the protocol 30%. On a coin created on baselaunch.app, which has no launch interface, the creator fee is still paid in full to the fee wallet. The creator cannot change the holders choice later. The protocol owner can redirect a coin's fee recipient after a 3-day notice; see Security.
- An optional Opening buy.
Can I create a meme coin from my phone?
The launch form is a web page that connects to your wallet, so it opens in a phone browser or a wallet's built-in browser. We have not tested every mobile wallet yet.
Can I buy my own coin at launch with an opening buy?
Yes. The Opening buy field lets you buy first, in the launch transaction. It is optional, and it buys on the same curve as everyone else, so it pays the same 1% fee. Your opening buy pays no launch tax; other buyers do in the first 3 seconds. How the launch tax works
What happens after launch?
Anyone can buy and sell on the curve. The creator receives 0.7% of each trade plus any creator fee set at launch. At 4.2 ETH on an ETH pair the coin graduates to a Uniswap pool with locked liquidity. See how it works and graduation. Meme coins are a gamble, so read security before you launch.
