Fees

Launching a coin on baselaunch costs 0.0005 ETH plus Base gas. Every trade pays a 1% fee: 0.3% to the protocol and 0.7% to the creator. Coins created on baselaunch.app have no launch interface; another app that registered one takes 20% of the creator side. A trade referrer, when there is one, gets 0.2% from the protocol part.

Creating a coin

Creating a coin costs a one-time launch fee of 0.0005 ETH, the same for every pair, plus Base network gas, which goes to Base and not to baselaunch. Nothing else is charged at creation. The first buy in the same transaction is optional.

Trading on the bonding curve

Every buy and sell on the curve pays a 1% base fee. It is split between four recipients: the protocol, the creator, the launch interface and, when the trade came with one, a trade referrer. The launch interface share is paid only when the coin was launched through an app that registered an interface. With no interface, the creator keeps that part. The figures below are the current settings, which the owner can change for future launches.

Bonding curve fee split at the current settings
RecipientWithout a referrerWith a referrerWhere it comes from
Protocol0.3%0.1%30% of the 1% base fee, less the referrer
Trade referrernone0.2%Paid from the protocol part
Creator0.56%0.56%The creator side (70%), less the launch interface
Launch interface0.14%0.14%20% of the creator side, when the coin has an interface
Total1%1%Share of each trade, before any creator fee

The creator can add a creator fee of 0 to 10% on top, chosen at launch. All of it goes to the creator side, so on a coin with a launch interface the interface takes 20% of it too. Buys in the first 3 seconds also pay a launch tax of up to 98% in the launch second with no creator fee (99% of the buy including the 1% fee), falling to zero. It is split between the protocol and the creator side like the base fee, with no referrer part. How the launch tax works

After graduation

When a coin graduates to its Uniswap pool, trades there pay a 1% base fee with the same split. The creator fee keeps applying.

The launch interface

A launch interface is the app a coin was created through. If that app registered an interface, its address is recorded on chain when the coin is created, and it earns 20% of the creator side (the creator part of the base fee plus any creator fee) on every trade of that coin, for as long as it holds the entry (the current interface can hand it to another address). The registry that stores it has no owner. When a coin is launched without an interface, nothing is recorded and the creator keeps this part.

The trade referrer

A trade referrer is the address a trade was sent with. It earns 0.2% of that trade's volume, paid out of the protocol part and never out of the creator side. With no referrer the protocol keeps the full 0.3%. With one, the protocol keeps 0.1%.

Worked examples

At the 1% base fee, with no creator fee. In the first column the coin was created on baselaunch.app, so it has no interface and the creator keeps that part. In the other two it was launched through an app that registered an interface. Each column adds up to the total fee.

Worked example: $100.00 of volume
RecipientNo interface, no referrerInterface, no referrerInterface and referrer
Protocol$0.30$0.30$0.10
Trade referrer$0.00$0.00$0.20
Creator$0.70$0.56$0.56
Launch interface$0.00$0.14$0.14
Total$1.00$1.00$1.00
Worked example: $100,000.00 of volume
RecipientNo interface, no referrerInterface, no referrerInterface and referrer
Protocol$300.00$300.00$100.00
Trade referrer$0.00$0.00$200.00
Creator$700.00$560.00$560.00

How creators claim

Fees are credited to each recipient in a fee escrow as trades happen. The escrow pays a balance only to the address it was credited to, so a creator can claim at any time. The creator can point the receiving wallet somewhere else, and that takes effect immediately.

Can the fees change?

The rates cannot change for a coin that has launched: every fee term is fixed when the coin is created. What the owner can set applies to future launches only, within the limits below. The two exceptions are that the owner can move the protocol payout address, and can redirect a coin's creator fee recipient after a 3-day public notice. Everything the owner can do

Owner powers that touch fees
PowerWhat it setsLimit
setLaunchFeeSets the fixed fee paid in ETH to create a coin.No cap in the contract. Paid once at creation, so it never touches a coin already launched.
addLaunchConfigAdds a launch configuration: supply, curve trading fee, virtual reserve, graduation target and pool tick spacing.Curve fee at most 10%, and the curve must quote a small buy. New launches only: every launch snapshots it at creation, so coins already launched keep their terms.
setMaxCreatorTaxBpsSets the highest creator fee a creator may choose.Hard ceiling of 10% in the contract. Each coin keeps the creator fee it launched with.
setProtocolFeeShareBpsSets the protocol share of the base fee (30% by default).Between 20% and 50%. New launches only: every launch snapshots it at creation, so coins already launched keep their terms.
setHookFeeBpsSets the trading fee of the Uniswap pool a coin graduates into (1% by default). At most 10%, and at most 20% together with the creator fee. New launches only: every launch snapshots it at creation, so coins already launched keep their terms.
setSnipeTaxStartBpsSets the launch tax that buys pay at the start of the launch tax window.Zero (off), or above 20% and at most 99%. New launches only: every launch snapshots it at creation, so coins already launched keep their terms.
setSnipeTaxSecondsSets how long the launch tax takes to decay to zero.Between 1 and 60 seconds. New launches only: every launch snapshots it at creation, so coins already launched keep their terms.
setProtocolFeeRecipientMoves the address the protocol share is paid to, for every coin, existing and future.Moves only the protocol share; creator, interface and referrer shares are unaffected.
setCreatorFeeRecipientProposes a new creator fee recipient for any coin, also redirecting its buyback vest. Meant for creators who lose their wallet, but not limited to that case.Executable only after a 3-day timelock, by anyone, within the following 3 days. A transfer by the creator during the wait does not cancel it. Announced on chain when proposed.

Common questions

How much does it cost to launch a coin?

0.0005 ETH, paid once when the coin is created, plus Base network gas. The first buy is optional.

Who gets the trading fee?

Four parties: the protocol, the creator, the launch interface the coin was made through (only when it was launched through an app that registered one, otherwise the creator keeps that part), and a trade referrer when the trade came with one. Without a referrer the protocol keeps its full 0.3%. With one, the referrer gets 0.2% and the protocol 0.1%.

Can the fees change after a coin launches?

Not the rates: every fee term is fixed for a coin at creation. The owner can change them for future launches within set limits, and can move the protocol payout address. What the owner can and cannot do

Meme coins are highly speculative and most lose their value. Nothing here is financial advice.
